Task Force

Diagnostics and Laboratory Research

Advancing diagnostics and laboratory collaboration for vector-borne diseases

Mission

The Diagnostics and Laboratory Research Task Force brings together laboratories and experts across the Balkan region to strengthen research, diagnostics, and public health response to vector-borne diseases.

Our mission is to connect scientific research with clinical practice, ensuring that new laboratory technologies and surveillance methods are translated into practical solutions for disease detection and outbreak response within the One Health framework.

Member institutions operate advanced laboratories ranging from BSL-2 to BSL-4, supporting research and diagnostics of emerging infectious diseases.

Vision

Our vision is to build a strong regional network of laboratories, researchers, and clinicians capable of addressing emerging public health threats across the Balkan region.

By combining advanced laboratory capacities, scientific expertise, and collaborative research initiatives, we aim to strengthen the region’s role in international research projects, grant programs, and outbreak prevention across the WHO European region.

Through knowledge exchange, mentoring of young scientists, and the promotion of good laboratory practices, the task force seeks to enhance regional preparedness and contribute to effective responses to vector-borne and emerging infectious diseases.
